Bought this for my son to use in Woodsball. It's light enough that he won't cook in his own juices but it fends off barbs and hooks of the various hostile plant life in West Virginia including the Poison Ivy that thrives here. Although hand washing is recommended, I just use the gentle cycle and Woolite after each day of play to rid them of everything a parent wants to keep out of the home.
I use heavier pants with integral pads as I spend a fair amount of time in ambush but my son is more mobile. These pants are therefore more suited to his style. They are reinforced in the knees somewhat but they are not what I would call "Dive to Survive" heavy duty. These are designed to be comfortable overall and exactly what he needed: Woodland Digi-Camo, synthetic (sheds toxins easily in wash), tough enough to survive in bushes and light enough to wear in hot, humid West Virginia.
